1004 Gourmet Dubai is a homegrown, specialist Asian grocery store tucked away inside The Greens. It encompasses a full supermarket, a Korean beauty concept and a speciality coffee shop. Join The Huntr as we present a closer look…
Located on the first floor of Oynx Tower 1 in The Greens, 1004 Gourmet is the brainchild of #ThePeopleOfTheUAE alumni Chang Sup Shin. South Korean born Chang moved to Dubai in 1992 when he was just 7-years-old. He started working in the Asian specialist food space by supplying ingredients to the city’s top Japanese restaurants (including the likes of Nobu, Zuma and Novikov). Prior to this new location, 1004 Gourmet lived in Barsha. It is now an impressive and chic space featuring shelves stacked with many hard-to-find (and reasonably-priced) ingredients from Korea and Japan (and more), a premium butcher (including pork for non-muslims), crockery from Japan, a speciality coffee shop called Kaffe Bloom (more on that here) and his wife’s Korean cosmetics company – Lamise Beauty.
The produce on offer includes fruits and vegetables, live fishes flown in from Korea (which are also used for the house-made, takeaway sushi), shabu shabu, pork, seaweed, kimchi, drinks, noodles, sauces, pantry staples and more. There’s also a corner dedicated to homewares and kitchen supplies, including specialist knives flown in from Japan (which are snapped up by some of Dubai’s top chefs). Plus an in-store beauty concept called Lamise Beauty, which was founded by Chang’s wife and offers a variety of rare and cult Korean beauty brands.
