Abu Dhabi Children’s Library is a must-visit for all little ones and parents in the UAE capital. Find out why with your friends at The Huntr…
Located at the Al Hosn Cultural Foundation, the impressive Children’s Library first opened in Abu Dhabi in September 2019. Spread over three floors and 5,250 square metres, the space aims to unite and celebrate arts and culture, creativity and technology for curious young minds.
Free to enter and access, the design has been inspired by UAE traditions and culture. Faux sand dunes make great little reading hills and there’s a ride-on, life-size vintage Land Rover to explore. There’s also a three-dimensional learn and play space enabling kids to immerse themselves in the story and an impressive collection of mixed language books – including fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, autobiographies, and audio-books.
A separate space has been created for workshops and there are a plethora of special happenings and activities to explore on the events calendar. The Cultural Foundation’s newly renovated 900-seat theatre is also conveniently located on the ground floor.
Insider tips: Open Saturday until Thursday from 10am until 8pm and Fridays from 12noon until 10pm. It’s just a 5-10 minute walk to visit the Al Hosn site from the Children’s Library – offering the chance to explore the UAE’s oldest building and a historic journey through the UAE’s rich culture. If you are feeling parched or peckish and in need of a good coffee, The Huntr recommends visiting the nearby Mirzam Chocolate (bean-to-bar chocolate and speciality coffee) and The Espresso Lab (speciality coffee, sweets and bakes).
