With an impressive collection spanning over 4,000 books, artistic sculptures, and photographs – the art and beauty is boundless at the Al Safa Art & Design Library. Join The Huntr as we present a closer look…
Contemporary architecture meets purpose and function at this Dubai Culture-led marvel. The space at the Al Safa Art & Design Library encompasses relaxing lounges, co-working desks, galleries, exhibition halls, audio-visual rooms, a children’s library, a cosy courtyard and a cafe (which is not yet open). Owned by the Dubai Government, the Dubai Municipality set about embarking on a major overhaul of the public library during 2016’s ‘Year of Reading’, which completed in the spring of 2019.
UAE residents are invited to borrow books from the library and all are welcome to visit the free public space to get a little inspiration, work or relax. The Huntr’s favourite corner is the reading area within the exquisite Islamic geometric patterns – a tranquil paradise that is not only perfect for studying, but for relaxing amongst the evergreen trees intertwined with the sunlight outside of the French windows.
Insider tips: Open Saturday to Thursday from 8am until 8pm. Free to visit. The cafe is expected to open late summer 2019. Closed on Fridays.
