Al Sultan Restaurant and Grill Abu Dhabi has been serving its reasonably-priced Arabic fare to those in the know since 1975. The casual dining homegrown gem actually has two locations in the capital – one in Al Dhafrah (pictured) and the other in Mussafah Sanaiya.
The Huntr visited the Al Dhafrah branch for a casual weekday lunch. The cheap and cheerful gem offers inside and outside seating, the staff are friendly – but it is a strictly cash-only affair and there’s no free wifi or fancy extras on offer here. Instead there are a variety of Middle Eastern and Arabic favourites on the menu – all at fair prices. We opted for the Hummus (5.25AED) to start and the Mixed Grill Tikka & Kebab (28.35AED) plus the Arays (27.30AED). The kebab was our favourite. We washed it all down with water (1AED), Pepsi (3AED) and the complimentary Black Tea (free).
Insider tips: Open daily from 12noon until midnight. The Huntr recommends visiting early/off-peak to avoid the crowds (12noon-1.30pm, after lunch (3pm onwards) and just before dinner)
