Calling all caffeine connoisseurs: The iconic Japanese coffee house and roaster – % Arabica – is a must-visit speciality coffee spot The Dubai Mall. Join The Huntr as we present a look inside this beautiful, minimal gem…
Inviting coffee addicts to “see the world through coffee” the opening of % Arabica in Dubai couldn’t have come at a better time in 2016, as the UAE’s coffee culture bubbled (and continues to bubble) with passion. People are literally nuts for coffee here and speciality coffee is in high demand.
% Arabica was founded by Kenneth Shoji in Kyoto, Japan: “In order to provide the best coffee possible, I bought a coffee farm in Hawaii, started a green bean trading company, became the sole exporter of a Japanese roasting machine called Tornado King and distributor of the best espresso machines in the world called Slayer”. % Arabica actually uses custom-made Slayer machines. Reader: This is serious coffee. Shoji explains that “Together with a world latte art champion, Junichi Yamaguchi, and a remarkably talented architect, Masaki Kato, we opened % Arabica in the beautiful historic city of Kyoto.” Fast forward a few years and % Arabica now has branches in Hong Kong, Berlin, Kuwait, and now – our beloved UAE: at The Dubai Mall and City Walk in Al Safa.
Eats-wise the options are limited to just a couple of different (albeit delicious) croissants and bakes.
