Located within the mesmerising Mandarin Oriental Jumeira hotel in Dubai’s Jumeirah 1 neighbourhood, Beluga Dubai is the UAE’s first and only dedicated caviar restaurant. Named after a sought-after type of caviar, the restaurant is open daily (from 2pm six days a week and from 12noon on Saturdays).
Inspired by “French cuisine with a modern twist”, Beluga serves up one of the world’s most expensive delicacies in a plethora of dishes. The ultimate fine dining experience and a great place for a romantic date or to impress clients, the bar is also fully licensed and stocks a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Interiors-wise, Beluga is as opulent as they come – with floor to ceiling marble, flashes of gold, white leather couches, fine cutlery and crockery and an altogether sophisticated vibe.
The Huntr started our caviar voyage with the Tsar Alexei Salmon Flower (215AED) – a beautiful flower-shaped arrangement of plump, pink salmon complete with a white sturgeon caviar vinaigrette and the most perfect blinis (which came served on a porcelain pillow, no less). Next we tried the Tsarine Potato (18AED) with Russian Oscietra caviar – which is comprised of the perfect mix of potato, cream, and salty caviar. Divine. The Red Carabinero Tartar with Salmon Caviar (160AED) followed and is a great option for raw seafood fans. And last, but certainly not least – the Golden Cigar with Royal Baerii (220AED), which was over far too quick and is one of those dishes that as hard to describe as it is to forget. Don’t miss it.
The dessert menu is limited but we enjoyed every mouthful of the Chocolate Fondant (75AED) which we shared between two and wolfed down in record speed. Perfection.
Drinks-wise, we washed everything down with crisp, French Sauvignon Blanc (105AED per glass) and a wonderful mocktail called the Golden Mile (100AED).
