Bussola Dubai: Faultless Italian cuisine with a licensed bar in the Dubai Marina

An oldie but a goodie, Bussola Dubai offers faultless Italian cuisine, a licensed bar, and a rooftop pizzeria at the Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi hotel. Join your friends at The Huntr as we present a closer look…

Divided between three concepts – a licensed bar/lounge, an upscale Italian eatery (the focus of this review), and a casual rooftop pizzeria, Bussola Dubai is a must-visit for all Italian food fans. Complete with slick furnishings, a calming colour palette, and excellent service, Bussola might just be one of the best spots for Italian food in Dubai. Up on the roof, you will find the casual dining pizzeria, whilst the ground floor is home to the plush restaurant – complete with a beautiful and expansive outside seating area overlooking the Westin’s sparkly pool.

During the cooler months, it would be wise to book a table outside and luxuriate in the vacay vibes. However, inside, the restaurant is equally as blissful and there are various seating arrangements for small and large groups. The Huntr enjoyed a lovely weekend lunch at the main Bussola restaurant. The menu is vegetarian-friendly and features a range of Italian favourites for lunch and dinner. We tried and loved the Burrata (155AED), which is easily one of the best in the city and features a 300g creamy burrata cheese from Italy that melts in your mouth nestled on a bed of juicy tomatoes. Plus the Sea Bass Ceviche (91AED), which is light and glossy and perfect for raw seafood fans. For the main event, we opted to share two courses – a Filleto Rossini (205AED), which is comprised of a fillet mignon steak with seared foie gras, fresh truffle, wild mushrooms, and port wine jus and is every bit as delicious and decadent as it sounds. Plus the Calamarata Allo Scoglio (112AED) pasta, with fresh seafood, a light tomato sauce, and parsley. We also ordered grilled green asparagus (40AED) for the side.

Both desserts that we ended the experience with were divine – the Mille Fuellie (50AED) melts in your mouth and the chocolate fondant (50AED) was worth every calorie.

The bar is fully-licensed and expansive enough to stand alone as worth visiting just for cocktails and nibbles whenever the occasion permits.

Bussola is the perfect spot for impressing clients, a first date, a romantic date night, or a special occasion such as a birthday. It’s equally perfect for just treating yourself to some of the best Italian food in Dubai surrounded by greenery and a cool ocean breeze (in the winter months at least). Bliss.

Insider tips: Advance bookings recommended for peak timing. Complimentary valet parking available at the Westin hotel entrance. Open daily from 12noon until 3 pm for lunch and 7 pm until 11 pm for dinner.
