Seafood lovers get excited. There’s a new joint in town and it has The HUNTR’s seal of approval. Read on for more…
Presenting Cast Dubai. An Emirati-owned, homegrown concept located a stone’s throw from HUNTR faves Bagel Yard, Vanilla Sukkar, and Nostalgia. Open daily from 1pm until 11pm (except on Sundays when it is closed) Cast Dubai is as beautiful as they come. Think dark, muted colours, natural elements, and lots of lush potted greenery. Soothing and refined, The HUNTR loved the large wooden table with an ‘acyclic river’ running through it and the open kitchen at the back is great for catching all of the live food-making action.
Alcohol-free, Cast Dubai’s menu is divided between salads, starters, bites, mains, maki, sushi, lobster, and oysters. If you don’t eat fish there are a few vegetarian-only options but 90% of the menu has been caught from the sea.
The HUNTR started our lunch experience with the Crispy Potato Caviar (84AED for 2 pieces and one of our faves). Featuring Hasselback potatoes, sour cream, and Kaluga caviar, the beautiful dish is faultless and a must-order. Next, we enjoyed the simple and satisfying Seared Salmon Nigri. For the main event, we were blown away by the Mussels (66AED), which come in a rich creamy sauce with alcohol-free sake and yuzu foam. Divine. Plus the sweet and moreish King Crabs Legs (109AED), which are charred in a Big Joe Grill and seasoned simply with butter and lemon. The decadent Lobster Mac and Cheese (72AED) is heaven in every bite and the Yellowfin Burger (58AED) features a yellowfin tuna patty, caramelized onions, rocket leaves, cheese, and homemade potato chips and was another favourite.
To end a delightful meal on a high, we shared the Mango Mochi (38AED) – artisanal mochi flown in from NYC that cleansed our palettes and left us wanting more.
Drinks-wise, Cast Dubai offers a variety of special mocktails alongside the usual suspects. We tried and loved the Just Cast Mojito (28AED) with lime, lemongrass, and mint leaves, plus the Bellini Like Never Before (28AED) with peach and ginger ale.
Insider tips: Closed Sundays. Open the rest of the week from 1pm until 11pm.
