Chez Charles Dubai: A beautiful restaurant in D3 serving sensational food

The Dubai Design District is fast becoming our favourite foodie destination. Regular Huntr readers will know that we are already fans of several cool concepts in the Downtown Dubai hub, and here we are raving about yet another D3 restaurant: Join us as we present Chez Charles Dubai…

First things first. Let us discuss this decor. Hello. How chic? Contemporary, French-inspired and utterly divine, this space is exceptionally snappable and after the sun has set, oh so romantic. In fact, we can’t wait to return to see how the restaurant transforms in daylight. We adored the expansive open kitchen and the atmospheric lighting – it’s easily one of the prettiest spots to have dinner in Dubai.

As the name suggests, Chez Charles is a French fare concept and this is some of the tastiest French cuisine on offer in the city. The menu teases “to share or not to share” – and let us tell you, we wouldn’t be able to share our ribeye steak. But first, let’s go to the starters: We tried the ‘Burgundy Snails à la Provençale’ (49 AED) which features six succulent snails cooked in rich garlic butter, herbs & tomato and come with crunchy croutons. It’s a simple but stunning dish and highly recommended. We also ordered the Shrimps Cocktail (59 AED), which was lush and the Caramelized Onion Soup (41 AED) Gruyere cheese, toasted bread. All three dishes were splendid.

Back to the steak… One of the best we’ve ever tried (worldwide, not just in the UAE), this steak (195AED) was worth every dirham and the high-quality New Zealand beef melted in our mouth. Perfection. We also ordered the mussels (105AED) – which are steamed and cooked in a gorgeous Thai green curry sauce, coconut cream with lime.

For desserts, we decided to share the signature Chez Charles Pain Perdu (57AED) and we suggest you do the same. It’s delicious and comes with yoghurt ice-cream and caramel Breton.

For drinks, we sampled some great mocktails, and since this restaurant is licensed, cocktails and other alcoholic beverages are also on the menu.

All and all this is a great spot and a solid 8.6 from The Huntr. We can’t wait to return for lunch soon… Add Chez Charles to your Huntr hitlist here.
