Restaurants at malls aren’t usually showstoppers. This one is. Meet Gia The Dubai Mall and join The Huntr as we present our special review and feature…
Located at the new Fashion Avenue extension at The Dubai Mall, Gia is the ideal spot for coffee and drinks, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Those with a penchant for pretty spaces will fall in love with this gem, which features a contemporary aesthetic thanks to its mix of marble, concrete, and wood. We loved the pretty and modern chandeliers and the open kitchen at the center. There’s also a gorgeous terrace with outdoor seating facing the Dubai Mall Fountains and a secret private dining room for special events and meetings.
The menu features an array of tempting Italian dishes, using only the finest ingredients – many of which are flown in from Italy. The Huntr has now visited Gia several times for lunch – and our most recent visit was in October 2020 when the homegrown Italian resto debuted a plethora of new dishes to its menu (pictured at the end of The Huntr’s album).
We loved the Gamberi Rossi Al Limone (69AED) – pan-fried prawns with Amalfi lemon sauce and garlic sourdough. Our mouth is watering just thinking about it. The pretty-as-a-picture Arancini Neri Cacio (65AED) was filling and tasty and encompass mushroom risotto, melted cheese, red beans, and garlic. Whilst the beautifully textured and flavourful Feta Croccante (69AED) is a must-order and features kunafa feta, Sicilian cherry tomatoes, red onion, Kalamata olives, capers, focaccia croutons a pesto dressing, and honey glaze. Divine. For the main event, we opted to have the Cassarecce Verdi Al Pesto (89AED) – a vegetarian-friendly mix of Cassarecce pasta, basil pesto, broccolini, lemon zest, and stracciatella burrata cheese. Plus the rich and tasty Rissoto Pomodoro e Gamberi (110AED) – tomato carnaroli risotto, red pesto, shrimp, and parmesan cheese. And last but not least, the Pollo Arrosto (139AED) a tasty and juicy baby roast chicken with pepperoncino and garlic sauce.
To end a delicious lunch on a sugar high we shared the Torta Caprese (49AED) a cheat-day-worthy almond and chocolate brownie with hazelnut gelato.
Drinks-wise, Gia serves up a variety of mocktails, which are totally ‘Gram-worthy and crafted using theatrical dry ice and handsome little touches at Gia’s (unlicensed) bar. Although a little on the expensive side, the two drinks blew us away with their creativity. The L’anguria (79AED) is crafted using watermelon, butterfly pea tea, and lemon juice – it’s served in a martini glass and then topped with a bubble of smoke. Whilst the Passione (79AED) is served in a special lidded glass and features a mix of strawberry and mango tea, passion fruit syrup, orange and lemon juice, and fresh oregano.
Insider tips: Gia The Dubai Mall is open daily from 10 am until 11 pm and until midnight on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The closest parking is Fashion Avenue.
