Gudee Pizza and Cafe is a family-owned restaurant, which first opened its doors in Abu Dhabi in 2013. Now open in Dubai’s well-heeled DIFC, join The HUNTR as we present a closer look inside Gudee Dubai…
A collaboration between an Afghan-born mother and daughter duo, Gudee Dubai already has some famous fans. Beautifully decorated – think cosy corners, earthy tones, eye-catching details, and a welcoming ambiance – Gudee Dubai is alcohol-free and open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The menu offers traditional Middle Eastern and Afghan fare alongside international favourites including pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches, small plates to share and a wide range of mouth-watering desserts. There is plenty to choose from for almost all tastes and vegetarians are well catered to. The HUNTR visited for a weekend lunch. We started our experience with the warming Gudee Special Soup (39AED) – a delicious and flavourful broth with fresh noodles, lentils, beans, ground meat, and yogurt. Plus the light and simple Gudees Salad (59AED) alongside the Pori Basket (59AED) – the Afgan version of Indian Chaat-like snacks.
The Bolanee Katchalou (49AED) – a fried turnover filled with mashed potatoes, garlic onion, lightly fried, served with yogurt sauce – was particularly delicious, and we loved the Zafarani Chicken Kebab (69AED) – tender chunks of boneless chicken marinated in saffron and served with a creamy sauce. The Badenjan Buranee Mashed Eggplant (65AED) had a divine charred flavour and was perfectly paired with naan bread, whilst the dumpling-esque Mantu (65AED) – lamb minced meat wrapped in steamed pastry, served with yoghurt and topped with meat sauce and lentils was also noteworthy. It’s also highly likely that you will love the Gudee Special Balaleet (69AED) – a must-order.
Of course, we had to sample Gudee’s iconic pizza and we opted to try the 3-1 Pizza (110AED) with buffalo chicken, zaatar burrata, and buttered chicken. It did not disappoint. The Mini Oman Crispy Chicken Burger with Fries (65AED) was also tasty – although quite small for the price.
Known for its desserts, we shared the Cookie Lava (49AED) creation before sampling a little of each of the sweet treats on offer – they are all delicious and worth every calorie so treat yourself.
Family-friendly and a great spot for a casual breakfast, lunch or dinner, Gudee also has a pretty outdoor seating area and offers free WiFi making it a great spot to study or get work done.
Insider tip: Open Saturday until Wednesday 10am until 11am and Thursday and Friday 10am until 11.30pm.
