ONDA: A sleek and cool neighbourhood eatery with a focus on keeping it real
Homegrown and Emirati-owned, ONDA is a “neighbourhood replenishment bar” with some pretty eye-catching and chic interiors.
Offering specialty coffee, matcha, and other wellness potions, there’s also a full food menu by Lowe’s Jesse Blake.
BKRY: A huge homegrown bakespace with specialty coffee and tea
Bkry is a homegrown “bakespace” featuring specialty coffee and tea. From the folks behind Hoof Cafe and Archers specialty coffee roastery, this cafe is a must-visit for all bakery fans.
Housed within a huge warehouse, the star of the show here is the big open kitchen, where all of the mouth-watering baking action takes place behind see-through glass doors. There's also a minimal specialty coffee/tea bar, and ample seating options for all groups sizes.
The perfect place to visit for a nice catch-up with a friend or a solo work session, the quietest times to visit are weekday mornings between 8-10 a.m (at weekends you might be hard-pushed to find a table, but it is worth the hype).
Soub: A sleek Seventies-inspired specialty coffee haven
Located in Dubai's 77 Valley – a foodie hotspot spanning drive-through and dine-in options, Soub is an Emirati-owned specialty coffee shop that's well worth bookmarking.
Featuring a sleek, Seventies aesthetic, this cafe encompasses a spacious outside seating area for the cooler months, alongside lots of cosy indoor seating options and plenty of #armchairgoals.
The Matcha Tokyo: Organic Japanese matcha on the beach in New Dubai
Tucked away inside the heart of the New Dubai Area at The Beach, JBR, The Matcha Tokyo offers Dubai residents and visitors a unique taste of Japanese tea culture. First founded in Tokyo in 2018 by two tea lovers, this small yet charming matcha bar, an offshoot of the successful Japanese brand with multiple outposts across Asia, first opened here in May 2024.
Serving 100% organic matcha drinks and homemade pastries, here you will find a tiny, cosy space featuring minimal Japanese aesthetics and charm. There is limited indoor and outdoor seating and it's an ideal spot for a quick cool retreat post-beach visit or a grab-and-go refreshment.
