Fusion Ceviche: A homegrown Peruvian gem in JLT

Located in Dubai’s Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) Fusion Ceviche is a hidden homegrown gem bringing the best of Perú to Dubai. Founded by the passionate and talented Chef Penelope Diaz, this small and cosy restaurant features a Chef’s Table counter, an open kitchen, and seating options for small and medium groups.

We loved the celebration of Perú – from the playlist to the items on display. The menu is heavy on seafood and offers traditional Peruvian cuisine with ingredients imported from Perú. It is divided between ceviches, entradas (entrees), calientes (hot dishes), and postres (desserts).

Moonrise: Chef Solemann Haddad's rooftop omakase on Sheikh Zayed Road

The brainchild of talented Dubai-born chef Solemann Haddad, Moonrise is a unique, homegrown, omakase experience located on the rooftop of sleek residential tower Eden House on Sheikh Zayed Road. First opened in September 2021, Moonrise underwent a makeover in 2023, transforming it from an 8-seater to a 12-seater restaurant – now with arena-style seating to catch all of the mouthwatering action…

Complete with jaw-dropping city views and a small but sleek setting a stone’s throw from the building’s glittering blue pool, Moonrise seats just 12 diners twice a night, at 6.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m., Monday-Saturday.

Ossiano: A bucket-list-worthy progressive fine dining experience in Dubai

Ossiano offers a progressive fine dining experience inspired by the ocean at the famous Atlantis Hotel. Awarded one Michelin star, here you can enjoy edible works of art whilst enjoying the views of the aquarium, as sharks, fish, and stingrays swim right past your table…

Led by the award-winning chef Grégoire Berger, Ossiano is the ideal place for a romantic date or a special occasion such as a birthday or an anniversary. Open daily from 6 p.m. onwards for dinner (the last seating is 9 p.m.) this is a fancy place, with an elegant ambiance and a dress code to match.

Iki Sushi: A stunning omakase experience in Dubai

Named after the Japanese word for “coolness” and “rarerity”, ‘iki’ is often used when describing desirable things. Tucked away inside KOA by Canvas, Iki Sushi is one such desirable “thing” – an ultra-exclusive, omakase restaurant seating just eight diners a session, and a maximum of sixteen guests a night. Fully licensed, it hosts two dinner sessions an evening; one at 6 and one at 9 p.m…

With the intimacy of an upscale, private dining room, Chef Koji Sagawa – who has over four decades of experience – takes centre stage in the kitchen, crafting each dish by hand before delivering them (also by hand) to his guests. All of the ingredients used here are flown in straight from Japan and strictly only the highest quality, seasonal produce.

Uchi: A tiny Japanese fine dining gem with a specialist whisky bar

With the coziness and exclusivity of a secret members club or upscale bar, this tiny Japanese fine dining gem is the brainchild of Carole Moawad, the Lebanese expat and entrepreneur behind the UAE’s first homegrown mochi ice-cream brand, M’OISHI…

Sultry and sophisticated, Uchi encompasses a small bar area alongside an intimate dining room for small to medium group sizes. There is also a chef’s counter.

What makes this experience unique is the fully licensed bar, which specialises in whisky – here, the signature UCHI shot is poured at a generous 50ml (exceeding the standard 30ml maximum for alcohol shots in Dubai).

Food-wise, you’ll find Japanese-inspired fusion and a tempting menu divided between small bites, sushi, the sea selection, the wagyu selection, appetisers, mains, and desserts.

Tresind Studio: The world’s smallest and most exclusive Indian restaurant?

Looking for something really special, bucket list-worthy, exclusive, and impressive? Then look no further… You’ve arrived at the right place. Seating just 20 diners an evening, Trèsind Studio is quite possibly both the world’s smallest and most exclusive Indian restaurant…

The name ‘Trèsind’ is a reference to the French word for ‘very’ (très) and an abbreviation for Indian (‘ind’) – a.k.a. “very Indian”. The ‘studio’ aspect of the Trèsind Studio name is likely because dining here is exactly what it might be like dining at a fine-dining chef’s studio. This one is helmed by the talented Chef Himanshu Saini.

Featuring just six tables that can accommodate just twenty guests a sitting, there is nothing quite like Trèsind Studio in the UAE, or indeed, perhaps the world. The coupling of high-brow Indian cuisine, and the level of immersive theatrical involvement the guests can experience, is really quite special. There are just two menus available – a set menu for meat/fish eaters and a set menu for vegetarians.

Ristorante L’Olivo at Al Mahara: Spectacular seafood in a sublime setting

Ristorante L’Olivo at Al Mahara is the brainchild of renowned chef Andrea Migliaccio whose restaurant Capri L’Olivo received 2-Michelin stars in Italy. It started life as a pop-up but became a regular fixture thanks to its roaring success. Expect sophisticated vibes and luxurious furnishings (it is the Burj Al Arab after all), and prepare to be awed by the surrounding live aquarium…

The ideal spot for a romantic dinner date, there is also a private dining room that seats up to 14 people for a special occasion such as a birthday celebration.

There’s a fully licensed bar and the cuisine is fine dining, Italian-inspired seafood. However, it is worth noting that there is also a separate menu for vegans and vegetarians.

K’iin Supper Club: A trip to Mexico in Downtown Dubai with a talented Chef

Conceptualised by Chef Jonathan Collin and inspired by his Mexican heritage and experiences at culinary greats such as La Petit Maison and Zuma, K’iin Supper Club is a unique experience all sociable foodies should try…

Held in Chef Jon’s home in Downtown Dubai, the experience features a stunning 7-course dinner menu (priced at 450 AED per person) – from the plates imported from Uayma, Yucatán to the hammock from Tulum you will feel as if you’ve been transported to Mexico and back, all in one memorable evening.

Ichiryu Ramen House: A Japanese gem created by 3 Filipino brothers

Founded by three Filipino brothers and tucked away inside Dubai's Port Rashid, Ichiryu Ramen House is a must-visit for all ramen and Japanese food lovers. The reason it has made this guide is because Ichiryu offers a unique Japanese-style “solo dining” experience, which includes semi-private cubicles and a hatch directly to order and receive your food. Ideal for introverts, it's a lovely, humbling dining experience not to be missed.

Elsewhere, the restaurant is bustling and features an array of seating options for all group sizes (inside only). Casual, alcohol-free, bright, and fun, this homegrown gem is a great spot for lunch or dinner with friends, family, or solo. Nearly always busy, there might be a short wait to get a table – especially at weekends. But it is worth it.

Zenon: An Al-driven, upscale restaurant in Downtown Dubai

Located at the Address Dubai Mall hotel, Zenon is a unique Al-driven, upscale restaurant and bar in Downtown Dubai. Offering a show-stopping experience
from start to finish, this is the perfect place to head if you want fancy vibes, impeccable food, and a dazzling ambiance…

Here digital art, modern architecture, and cutting-edge technology unite create a unique dining room. Enjoy eye-catching holograms and dynamic video projection mapping all from the comfort of your dining chair, thanks to the folks at Ouchhh – who have curated a fantastic immersive experience for you here.

Drinks-wise, Zenon is fully licensed. The bar is open late and a destination in its own right. After dark there are a series of DJs and nightlife vibes. Food-wise, you are in for a treat as three talented chefs – Italian Executive Chef Lorenzo Buccarini, Japanese Head Chef Tatsuya Ueda, and Grecian Head Chef Thomas Papas have combined their passion and skills to curate a Mediterranean and Asian menu.

Itadaku: An authentic homegrown Japanese experience

Tucked away along Al Wasl Road in Dubai’s Jumeirah 1, you will find Itadaku – a homegrown, family-run restaurant offering an authentic Japanese experience…

Itadaku, short for the word ‘itadakimasu’, which means “gratitude for receiving” in Japanese, is an alcohol-free, homegrown restaurant, open 6 days a week for lunch and dinner (closed Mondays). Advanced bookings are mandatory, and allow the team to execute precision from the kitchen to the table. The reason its made this list? It's one of the few purist, authentic Japanese experiences (not fusion) in the city.

The vibes are sleek and minimal. There’s a chef’s counter where you can catch all of the robata-grilling action, and the neatly-presented staff greet you warmly as soon as you enter. Small and cosy, you can opt to sit on the bar stools at the chef’s counter, on one of the four and two-seater tables in the main restaurant or in the private dining rooms.

Kokoro: Dubai's first handroll bar all the way from Texas

Straight from Dallas, Texas, Kokoro brings a unique handroll bar experience to Dubai. Founded by chefs Patrick Pham and Daniel Lee, Kokoro opened its doors at Alserkal Avenue at the end of March 2024.

Here you will find sleek vibes, premium handrolls, sushi, and other Japanese favourites, in a cosy, welcoming and intimate atmosphere…
