The UAE's restaurants redefined approachable sophistication in 2024, as talented chefs and thoughtful restaurateurs created spaces that bridged the divide between casual and fine dining. These new arrivals brought precision and creativity to their menus while maintaining welcoming, unpretentious atmospheres – proving that exceptional food needn't come with starched tablecloths or hushed dining rooms.

From contemporary Japanese at Ikayu to Chef Salam Daqqaq's soulful Levantine fare at Sufret Maryam, this year's openings demonstrated how elevated casual dining could deliver memorable experiences without reserving them for special occasions. Here are the spots that caught our attention in 2024, each offering a distinctive take on refined yet relaxed dining.

A note from the HUNTR: There are several venues that opened their doors in November and December 2024 that might deserve a spot in this guide. We believe in taking time to properly experience destinations before deciding whether they are worthy of a spot on the HUNTR Directory. We'll continue updating this guide as we complete our visits in the coming weeks.
