Izu Brasserie and Bakery Dubai: A must-visit in City Walk

Chef Izu Ani is at it again. He has opened another tasty, beautiful hotspot that has shot straight to the top of The Huntr’s favourites list. Read on to find out why we are raving about Izu Brasserie and Bakery Dubai…

Located within the Le BVH Marais department store in City Walk you will find a wonderful eatery divided into two parts – Izu Bakery and Izu Brasserie. Inside the bakery you will discover all manner of tempting baked goods – from fresh breads to pastries, all beautifully displayed inside cabinets. The kitchen also knocks out the restaurant’s breakfast menu. The “mother kitchen” however, is located inside the buzzing brasserie and is crafting hot plates and pizzas straight from the specialist ovens. There’s also a pretty bar taking care of the drinks, desserts and coffee.

In terms of atmosphere and ambience, Izu’s latest venture is as pretty as a picture. Think cosy corners, a bustling open kitchen, a welcoming vibe and a stunning space flooded with natural light. In short: If you love Izu’s previous eateries (such as La Serre and The Lighthouse in D3), you will love Izu Brasserie and Bakery.

The Huntr camped out at this City Walk gem from late morning until late afternoon, eating from two different menus and busying ourselves with some work. From the breakfast menu, we tried the Waffles (48AED), which were delicious. Simplistic but tasty, and served with fresh berries, peach and maple and chocolate syrup. We also sampled the Breakfast Board (65AED), which features avocado and feta on toast and a granola bowl. It’s good value and the perfect hearty and wholesome way to start your day. To wash it all down, we ordered lattes and cappuccinos, which were utterly perfect and totally Instagrammable thanks to the awesome art created by the talented baristas.

From the lunch menu, we sampled the Anchovy and Capers Pizza (75AED), which is created using buffalo mozzarella, anchovies, fried capers, olives and cherry tomatoes. Every pizza made from scratch and freshly baked inside the special oven. We thoroughly recommend you try your favourite. We also ordered the homemade Fettuccini with Prawns and Mushrooms (80AED). The pasta is served al dente and the sauce was simple and stunning – built around a fresh tomato sauce, rich in garlic and olive oil flavour.

Aside from a triumphant two-meal experience, we were also blown away by the customer service. Our server Joanna was very accommodating and informative and is an asset to Izu’s team – who were all full of energy and smiles, making our visit all the more special.
