Founded by three patriotic Afghan women, Kishmish Dubai is the city’s “first gourmet Afghan street and soul food restaurant”. Join The Huntr as we present our full review and pictures…
Located within One Third Dubai – the city’s first homegrown food hall at Dar Wasl Mall in Al Safa – you will find real Afghani cuisine at Kishmish Dubai. Decor-wise, this homegrown gem is cosy and inviting. A neon light flickers with a Rumi quote that reads “The heart is cooking a pot of food for you. Be patient until its cooked”. Luckily we didn’t have to wait too long to try Kishmish’s Afghan delights.
The Huntr sampled the stunning mixed grill platter (85AED), which is comprised of chicken, lamb and kofta skewers served with three different types of sauces, masala fries and grilled veggies. It’s the perfect hearty lunch. We also tried the national Afghani dish – Kabuli Palou (65AED), a gorgeous blend of rice, chicken, carrots, raisins and nuts with super tender lamb meat. We washed this down with two refreshing mocktails – the Afghan Mojito (25AED), vinegar & mint infused syrup, fresh cucumber and crushed ice and the Chia Fresh (25AED), rose, lemon or Afghan cherry infused syrup with chia seeds and ice – and vowed to visit again some time soon to try the other tempting dishes on the menu.
Insider tip: At the time of going to press, Kishmish’s opening time is 2pm daily. It closes at 10pm Sat-Weds and midnight Thurs-Fri.
