La Mer is being replaced with a fancy beach club destination

La Mer as we know is closing and making way for a trio of beach clubs plus ten licensed restaurants that will all open by the end of 2023. Visitors can swim, relax, wine, and dine in the heart of Jumeirah 1 with this new development called J1 Beach…

While the list of restaurants hasn’t been announced, we have intel on the three beach clubs. Izu Ani’s Greek restaurant, Gaia, will be opening a Greek-Mediterranean-themed luxury beach club with a contemporary aesthetic and a menu designed for beachgoers who simply want to indulge. 

Baâoli, known for its modern Japanese cuisine, will also open its doors here with a unique beach club. The Indian retreat-inspired space will offer something totally unique. Plus, from St Tropez comes Gigi Rigolatto. An Italian-inspired beach club with a garden, two terraces, an indoor restaurant, a Bellini bar, a kids’ circus, and a wellness area.
