An Australian bomboloni doughnut shop has traveled five thousand miles from Perth to open its very first overseas outlet here in Dubai. Join The Huntr as we present a closer look at Lena Lu Dubai…
Originally from Italy, the ‘bomboloni’ is a doughnut that is raised using yeast and typically contains a sweet filling. Light and airy, the bomboloni creations at Lena Lu Dubai are freshly made on site every day – hand-filled and hand-decorated. Founded in Perth, Australia, the name ‘Lena Lu’ is a nod to a delicious Bomboloni family recipe that was passed down from a very talented Sicilian Grandmother called ‘Lena’.
Here in Dubai Lena Lu is tucked away inside Jumeirah 3
. The shopfront looks like something out of a Wes Anderson movie. Small but bright and quirky, the space is almost as appetising as the sweet treats on offer. And one foot inside and you’ll find it hard to resist the sweet smell of the bomboloni…
Priced from 15AED per piece upwards, the most popular creations are the Nutella, pistachio and custard bomboloni. You can also opt to add additional toppings such as M&Ms, cornflakes, marshmallows and pretzels for a couple of extra dirhams. Plus there are the Panino – a burger-like doughnut, which is stuffed with ice-cream and completed with chocolate or strawberry jam drizzle. Milkshakes are also available.
Insider tips: Soft-opening hours from 2.30pm until 11pm daily. Delivery available through Uber Eats. A box of Lena Lu bomboloni would make the perfect gift for your foodie friend.
