Take a tour through the Jumeirah Art Project with The Huntr

If you’ve recently driven down Jumeirah Road between the Dubai Canal and the Burj Al Arab, you’re likely to have spotted these colourful murals on walls and façades. Created by artists from around the world, the 30 or so vignettes of life in the UAE are part of the Jumeirah Art Project. Conceived by The Huntr’s friends at Brand Dubai, the project has been implemented in partnership with the RTA, Dubai Municipality, DTCM, and the Dubai Sports Council. Through these murals, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision of transforming Dubai into an open-air museum is one step closer to fruition.

A host of Emirati, regional and international artists have chosen to interpret the Jumeirah neighbourhood’s historic past and futuristic present in unique ways. The murals range from the realistic to the whimsical, featuring fresh takes on well-known Dubai symbols. Some common themes include the sea, pearls, fishing and children at play. The Huntr was pleased to see that these works of art showcase both insider and outsider perspectives of the city.

Here’s a quick virtual tour of the Jumeirah Art Project. And with cooler weather on the way, you can soon explore it yourselves on foot…
