On Sunday morning medical Emirati student Ammar Al Farsi drove from Sharjah to Ras Al Khaimah after a friend told him about a secret wonder hiding there…
Armed with his drone, Ammar told The HUNTR he was “amazed by the place” and had “never seen something like this before” – a picture-perfect pink lake. He shared his photos across social media, which quickly went viral – “I didn’t know that the photos would go viral or I would have taken a lot more photos!”
Lakes are often pink coloured because of the presence of algae that produces carotenoids, such as Dunaliella Salina. The authorities will likely test the water to determine what is causing its brilliant pink hue.
