Things we like include cosy hotels with amazing, friendly staff, small rooftop pools with views of the world’s tallest tower and good, honest food. So imagine our joy when we visited the Manzil Hotel in Downtown Dubai and discovered that it ticked all of our boxes, and then some…
The Manzil Hotel is the brainchild of the folks behind Vida Hotel, which is conveniently placed just next door. Everything here is thoroughly thought out – from the Arabic art to complement Manzil’s slogan ‘Where home is Arabic’, to the cute little touches like door tags with the Arabic for ‘Please make up my room’ and ‘Do not disturb’. Where Manzil may be lacking in beach and sand, it makes up for in pure urban comfort. Everything is modern, with a traditional twist. The hotel’s WiFi page features a plethora of easy to use features such as ‘view my bill’, ‘get a bite’ and ‘get served’. From the click of a button you can request for a tray to be cleared, order a snack, or (we assume) anything else you can possibly think of…
Conveniently located a stone’s throw from the aforementioned Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall, Manzil Downtown Dubai is perfect for young couples, families, business travellers or Dubai Marina residents looking for a super cool, Downtown staycation. Oh – and Huntr favourite, Kadi Boutique, do the flowers here.
Breakfast is served until 11am (which is practically unheard of in Dubai) and the rooms are expertly arranged. Our suite featured a gorgeous stand-alone bath tub and a rainforest head shower, a balcony with a jaw-dropping view of Souk Al Bahar and the Burj Khalifa, and the bed was one of the comfiest we have ever slept on. The only slight let down was the room service eats – which didn’t quite match up to the quality of food on offer throughout the hotel’s restaurants. So we recommend skipping that and dining outside of your room. No big deal when you’re in this neck of the woods…
The Huntr also tried the Levant Brunch on offer here at the Boulevard Kitchen restaurant (read our dedicated post on that here) and we will definitely be back very soon – the Manzil courtyard might just be one of the dreamiest outdoor spots in the city.
Big fat tick for you Manzil!
Good for: Couples. Families. Business travelers.
What we loved: Location – stone’s throw from all of Downtown Dubai’s delights. Walkable distance from Dubai Mall, Emaar Boulevard and Souk Al Bahar. Short drive to DIFC. Interiors and atmosphere: Very chic and Instagrammable. Gorgeous courtyard that allows guest to enjoy the outside (and maybe a shisha or two?) even during the hotter months thanks to some outdoor AC units and clever architecture.
What’s missing? There’s no spa. Room service food was average… Although in this neck of the woods, you are spoilt for foodie and pampering choices with The Dubai Mall and DIFC etc.
Rooms from: 699AED+
Inside tips: Book the Burj view suite. Skip room service. Make the most of the amazing breakfast.
