Say hello to MASKA Wraps Dubai. The place to go if you want to up your gift wrapping game to a whole new level…
MASKA’s Emirati founders Fatma AlKhoori (founder and managing director) and Noora Khoory (co-founder) opened their first location in Jumeirah at the end of August in 2013. Fatma told The Huntr: “I was fascinated with Furoshiki, and fell in love it after a trip to Japan. An elegant, reusable, eco-friendly packaging – what’s not to love?” “There was a gap in the market for something like MASKA in the UAE because the presentation of gifts in our culture is very important, and options available at the time were very dated.” Fast-forward five years and MASKA now has three locations and an online store.
Typically the wrapping of a gift is an after-thought, but in the Emirati culture its almost the main focus. MASKA caters to this market and other discerning gift buyers, offering them its carefully curated selection of wrapping accessories (including scents) and signature fabric wraps.
Plus, in 2014, MASKA launched its Sewing Machine Initiative, which “supports children’s education and disadvantaged families through providing women with home-based jobs.”
Insider tip: The MASKA location pictured is at Mirdif 35 community mall. You can also find MASKA at the Dubai Design District (d3), Town Centre Jumeirah and online.
