Palm Jumeirah-based miX by Alain Ducasse Dubai marks two milestones – 1. It is the famous chef’s first UAE-based restaurant, 2. It is the largest restaurant in his portfolio. Join The Huntr as we present a closer look…
Spread over three floors, miX by Alain Ducasse is as plush as they come. The fine dining Kempinski Palm Jumeirah gem features al fresco dining on the sixth-floor rooftop (complete with breathtaking views of the sea), a private chef’s table, which is concealed in the central dome and has its own private elevator, indoor dining and a bar/lounge area – the latter of which is home to a huge egg structure inspired by the iconic Faberge Egg (the secret chef’s table is located inside said egg. Shh!).
The menu changes with the seasons and features dishes that have been inspired by Ducasse’s French roots. The Huntr started its gastronomic journey at miX with complimentary focaccia bread with fennel seeds and pea flour chips with a spinach laban hummus. From the starters section of the menu, we opted for the Shrimp Toast (90AED), the Wagyu Beef Tiradito (150AED) with spices and loomi, which is the kitchen’s take on the classic beef tartare and comprises meat that is incredibly tender served on a bed of avocado and lime, and the divine Sea Bream Ceviche (95AED) with leche de tigre. For the main event, we opted for the vegetarian-friendly Cookpot of Quiona & Seasonal Vegetables (115AED) – an outstanding dish, which features 4-hour-soaked quinoa, seasonal vegetables and a comforting, delicious buttery milk sauce. The Canneroni Pasta with Tender Ox Cheek and Orange (140AED), which was another standout dish and is crafted with 36-hour-marinated ox cheeks, al dente canneroni (small tube-like pasta shapes) and zesty orange. Plus the Line-Caught Seabass (280AED) with lemon and capers – simple, healthy and delicious.
To end a perfect meal on a sweet note we selected the Paris-Dubai (80AED) (good for 2), which is miX’s take on the Paris Brest and features a crunchy pistachio pastry outer shell with a creamy praline filling and roasted pistachios – don’t miss it, and the miX Candy Bar (45AED).
Drinks-wise, miX is fully licensed and serves a variety of spirits, wines, beers, champagne, cocktails, mocktails and soft drinks. The Huntr tried (and loved) the Old Fashion Bourbon cocktail (80AED), which is made with Elijah Craig bourbon, young coconut syrup, nuts and blossom bitter.
Insider tip: The chef’s table seats 12 and a minimum spend and advance booking are required. Dress to impress. Bookings recommended.
