Say hello to Poke and Co Dubai. A healthy little DIFC gem that might just be the best place to get poke in the city…
Located at the Central Park Tower (which was iconically featured in the Star Trek Beyond movie), Poke & Co is a beautiful spot. A cosy outdoor feel is felt throughout thanks to the lush greenery and hanging plants, the relaxing white and wood colour scheme instantly makes you feel at home and there are plenty of places to sit whether you are dining solo, in a duo or a big group.
As you may have guessed from the name, the food on offer here features a variety of poke bowls – you can select from 6 signature creations, or make your own. What’s more is everything from the poke bases to the sauces is gluten-free, crafted using the finest ingredients and made fresh to order every single time. There’s also ample options for breakfast, lunch, snacks – including ‘Grab and Go Salads’, breakfast bowls, smoothie bowls and more.
From the breakfast menu, The Huntr sampled two different Avocado Toast Your Way (32AED) dishes, the first was comprised of avocado, asparagus, chili flakes, radish, pomegranate, and zaatar on toasted multigrain bread. We also opted to add two free-range organic poached eggs (charged as an additional 7AED each). The second featured avocado, ponzu mushroom, goats cheese, cherry tomatoes and dill on toasted multigrain bread. We loved both but preferred the latter thanks to the salty addition of the cheese, which is the perfect partner for creamy avocado.
Naturally we had to try the poke. We ordered from signature poke menu in small portions (55AED). The Aloha is comprised of salmon, light ponzu sauce, red onion, edamame, cherry tomatoes, seaweed salad, mango, avocado, sesame seeds, chili flakes and ginger. This tasty and healthy dish tastes like a bowl of deconstructed sushi (we opted for the rice base), they are so many flavours and textures but they all unite to create a beautiful bite. We also tried the vegetarian Lanai poke bowl, which is crafted using tofu, mushroom, matcha miso sauce, spring onions, radish, edamame, seaweed salad, avocado, pineapple, furikake, coriander and chili flakes. We went with the recommended base of zucchini noodles (zoodles). Anything but boring, this option is the perfect light lunch or dinner for vegetarians or those who prefer to eat plant-based meals.
Drinks-wise, we tried the Turmeric Latte (23AED) from the Superfood Latte menu, which is made with nut mylk and the Cafe Latte (18AED), powered by the local caffeine connoisseurs at Gold Box Roastery. You can also order from a range of vegan, refined-sugar free, paleo and dairy-free smoothies, organic nut mylk creations, organic cold-pressed juices and speciality coffees and teas. Lastly, Poke & Co offers a range of 100% raw, vegan and refined-sugar and gluten free desserts.
All and all this is a must-visit spot next time you find yourself in DIFC – whether you are passionate about poke, love the plant-based life or you want to eat delicious food in a cute setting, that won’t make you feel ‘meh’ afterwards. We are already planning our return…
