Karak kings Ahmed Kazim and Justin Joseph a.k.a. The folks behind Project Chaiwala have opened a new branch in Dubai Media City. Join your friends at The Huntr as we take a closer look…
Following its debut in Alserkal Avenue in 2018, the karak chai concept with food truck roots is all grown up and now counts two Dubai neighbourhoods as home following the Project Chaiwala Dubai Media City (DMC) opening in September 2019. Larger than its older sister and the first stand-alone Project Chaiwala concept (the branch in Alserkal shares its space with Cinema Akil), the DMC outpost is open daily from 8am until 8pm during the week.
The space is bright and airy and provides a plethora of seating options for large and small groups. There’s also free Wifi, easy-access power stations and nearby public bathrooms making it a great spot to catch up on emails, get some work done or study.
Drinks-wise, Project Chaiwala is alcohol-free and offers chai concoctions, organic loose leaf teas, homemade ice teas and other soft drinks. Alternative, dairy-free milks are also available (oat, coconut or almond). Food-wise, the menu offers five different toasties including the lunch-suitable Buttermilk Grilled Chicken (25AED) and lighter, vegetarian options. The Huntr tried the Spicy Feta Toastie (10AED), Karak (12AED) and Project Chaiwala Signature (15AED).
Insider tips: Project Chaiwala Dubai Media City is currently closed on weekends but is expected to open for Fridays and Saturdays soon – stay tuned.
