Located inside the Venetian Village at the Ritz Carlton, the Punjabi Grill Abu Dhabi is a fantastic fine dining gem serving delicious Northern Indian cuisine. Join The Huntr as we present a closer look…
Complete with various seating arrangements for small and large groups, the space is simply decorated with striking ceiling lights (which we imagine would be particularly impressive for dinner time) – but to be completely honest, it could do with a little interiors makeover to inject some modern vibes into the ambiance. As it stands, the impeccable service and food make up for the slightly tired furnishings (which may add to the charm for some?)
We enjoyed a special set menu priced at 350AED per person. We started with the uniquely tasty Spiced Farm Fresh Burrata with Punjabi eggplant bharta, red pepper chutney, and then the comforting Seafood Curry Soup with coastal coconut and curry-flavored seafood broth, which was perfectly balanced and light. Next came the Butter Chicken Kulcha, which is the restaurant’s famous chicken stuffed in crusty Amritsari kulcha alongside the flavourful Kashmiri Lamb Chops with walnut chutney and Rogan au-jus and last but definitely not least the Prawn Dum Biryani with gulf shrimps and long grain basmati rice cooked under ‘dum’ with Indian spices and herbs. The steamed rice was perfectly cooked and was not sticky or dry and was very flavourful. To end an epic Indian feast with a bang we shared two desserts – the Carrot Halwa Roll with pistachio ganache and vanilla ice cream (which was our favourite of the two) and the Chenner Poda Cheesecake with caramel sauce and cinnamon ice cream.
Drinks-wise the Punjabi Grill is fully licensed and offers a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. For this particular experience, The Huntr sampled the green tea and stuck to water.
