Society Cafe & Lounge Dubai: A conservatory-inspired foodie dream

Founded by Emirati Sheikha A. Al Muhairy in November 2017, the atmosphere at Society Cafe & Lounge is second to none. Think contemporary, industrial-chic interiors, and heaps of pretty, natural sunlight thanks to a glass roof ceiling. Sheikha Al Muhairy was inspired by the idea of the conservatory for this project and it’s clear to see – we love the wooden chairs and cosy little tables, and the greenery that peppers every corner.

On the ground floor, you will find the bakery, kitchen, and bar. There are long table seating options for large groups, and there’s even a kid’s corner with mats and toys aplenty. Up on the second floor, there’s a dedicated lounge and a private function space for activities and events.

Food-wise, ex Common Ground‘s food wizard Jarek Wysmyk (and the apprentice of Michelin Star Chef Dylan Mcgrath, no less) leads the kitchen at this homegrown haven as head chef. The menu features a host of tempting dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner including The Huntr’s favourite Eggs Benedict in a Croissant, a wholesome Morning Bowl (59AED), which is comprised of sesame kale, roasted sweet potato, avocado, beetroot slaw, wild grains, poached egg, and doused in a miso vinaigrette. And the comforting Khachapuri (48AED) – bread filled with smoked cheddar sauce, herbs, and one egg – a Georgian speciality using authentic Georgian bread.

On a lunch visit to Society we selected the Classic Grilled 3 Cheese Sandwich (48AED), which comes served with roasted pepper & tomato soup. And last, but definitely not least, we tried and fell in love with the Halloumi Fries (35AED). Trust us, it would be a crime not to order these. Prepare to be obsessed.

From the in-house bakery (where everything is crafted and baked on site), we sampled the black charcoal and rose & raspberry croissant (18AED) and definitely recommend you do the same. These are perfect – especially when paired with Society’s speciality coffees (which are created using Blacksmith Abu Dhabi‘s beans). We also ordered Society’s signature ‘High Society’ drink (30AED), which is made using sparkling grape infused with blueberry, served over ice and sprinkled with gold flakes.
