Somewhere. It’s a curious name for a restaurant. “Do you want to go Somewhere?” one friend asks another, “sure, where?” the friend replies… “No, Somewhere – the new buzzy place at The Dubai Mall.” And ironically, this isn’t just somewhere or someplace, this is a delicious, cosy concept with an all-star, award-winning team behind it. The name actually comes from the concept of travel and the motto “let us take you Somewhere”. Celebrating wanderlust and nostalgia, adventure and exploring the unknown, the shelves and walls are stacked with travel books and guides and epic pictures of exotic locations, transporting you elsewhere. There is also a terrace (it wasn’t open when we visited) that features a picturesque view of the dancing water fountains for the cooler months.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the menu features a mixture of Arabic and Mediterranean dishes and the plates are built for sharing. Reservations are required and can be made by visiting the official website.
Dining as a large group on this occasion, The Huntr sampled a whopping 21 dishes on our lunch visit. Of the things we tried, we definitely recommend ordering the Kubbah with Cheese (37AED, Shrimp Kunafa (47AED), Eggplant Moussaka (37AED), Falafel Salad (43AED), Jalapeno Bell Pepper Hummus (32AED), Black Angus Beef Fatteh (49AED), Chicken Shawarma Bao (25AED), Chicken Ouzi Puff (61AED), Cerelac Umm Ali (55AED) and Tamriya Sticky Date Pudding (55AED).
Somewhere is alcohol-free and features a range of speciality coffees, teas, mocktails and soft drinks.
