STK JBR: Really good food and a buzzy atmosphere by the beach

STK is a world-famous name. With restaurants in Las Vegas, New York and London, this is the first Middle Eastern location for the American steakhouse and STK JBR does not disappoint. Read on to discover The Huntr’s full review…

Located within the (relatively) new Rixos Premium in Dubai’s JBR, STK Dubai is a snazzy, expansive drink and dinner destination. Like its sister locations in America and the UK, STK Dubai serves up cracking steak (amongst other things) with a buzzy, party vibes atmosphere. Interiors-wise this restaurant is as cool and sexy as they come. Think moody dark lighting, fun neon signs and opulent touches throughout.

The Huntr visited for a weeknight dinner. We were impressed with the attentiveness of our servers and the smiling, happy faces throughout STK Dubai. The music was especially good – and featured a mixture of classics and new songs. We were seated away from the main part of the restaurant/bar area, in a really quiet area. For those who want to feel more of the party vibes – specify that you want to be seated “in the thick of it” when you make your reservation.

Drinks-wise, we shared a bottle of wine, but we did see the impressive-looking cocktails coming out of the bar and can’t wait to return to try them. Food-wise, you are in for a tasty treat…

We decided to let the kitchen surprise us with a mixture of their star dishes. To whet the appetite, we were given the most decadent and delicious brioche bread topped with creamy blue cheese and served with a pesto dipping sauce. Next came the very prettily-plated Tuna Tataki (85AED) from the ‘Raw Bar’ section of the menu. The dish comes with five rolled up pieces of succulent seared tuna, seaweed salad, shredded celery and sesame aioli and ginger-soy. It was wonderful. The Lil Brgs (65AED) followed and are not to be missed. Featuring two sliders, they’re comprised of a USDA beef patty, special sauce and a sesame seed bun. To end the appetizers experience we tried the Chopped Salad (59AED), which was nice, but we probably wouldn’t opt for it again.

Then it was time for the main event – the steak (380g USDA Prime Rib Eye 365AED). This was one of the best we’ve ever had. Succulent and crispy on the top, with a juicy, melt-in-the-mouth centre, we also loved the BBQ sauce that came with it. To accompany the steak, the kitchen sent Parmesan Truffle Chips (39AED), which were divine and Steamed Broccolini (39AED). When we return, we can’t wait to try the Lobster Mac & Cheese (69AED).

It’s also worth noting that there are a few options on the menu that will please non-meat-eaters, including a Butternut Squash Fregola (95AED) and a Leek & Potato Lover Pot Pie (95AED) for vegetarians, and for pescatarians, there’s lobster, salmon and black cod dishes. There’s also a lamb dish, chicken and beef short rib on the menu.

We were too full to try dessert, but as you can probably tell – this has shot up to The Huntr’s favourite new places list, and we will definitely be back soon.

Insider tip: Ask to be seated in the main restaurant if you want to make the most of the buzzy party vibes. Tuesday night is ladies night, where ladies get 3 drinks and 2 courses (149AED) or 3 courses (199AED) between 7pm-1am – it’s an incredibly busy and popular night and bookings are strongly advised.
