Opened in late November 2015, The Maine Dubai is a strong contender for one of Dubai’s best fish and seafood restaurants – in fact it is one of The Huntr’s favourite restaurants full stop. Here’s why…
Here at The Huntr we’ve been visiting The Maine Oyster Bar & Grill for a variety of occasions over the years. To take advantage of its epic business lunch deal, for happy hour, for fancy celebratory dinners, to soothe our fish taco and brussel sprouts cravings, for Friday brunch… The Maine ticks a lot of boxes.
Fancy but not too fancy. Cool but not too cool and pretentious. We love the indoor space, which is divided between bar and smoking section and non-smoking dining section. There are various seating options for small and large groups, including sumptuous booths, which sit at the edges of the restaurant. There’s an inviting semi-open kitchen and innovative live oyster bar, plus a pretty outdoor terrace area, which provides the ideal outside dining opportunity during Dubai’s perfect winter season.
Named after the state in the New England region of the northeastern United States famed for its lobster shacks and sandy beaches, The Maine offers a variety of dishes from light bites to main courses for lunch and dinner. There’s plenty of fish and seafood, alongside meat-based dishes, plus some vegetarian-friendly dishes.
On our most recent visit, The Huntr booked in for an early Saturday lunch. We started with some Fine de Claire oysters (10AED each during a special oyster happy hour), which were juicy and soft. Next we sampled the Chargrilled Octopus (90AED), which was perfectly tender and comes with puttanesca sauce and sunchoke puree. For the main event we opted for the Spring Chicken (120AED), a perfect dish thats comprised of 200g corn-fed chicken supreme, garlic mash and asparagus and the Steak Frites (150AED) – a melt-in-your-mouth 200g Wagyu flank served with home cut fries and Bordelaise sauce. To end a faultless lunch on a sweet note, we shared the Rocky Road Brownie (55AED), which was perfectly paired with an iced coffee with milk (24AED).
Other dishes we recommend ordering include the iconic Charred Brussel Sprouts (just trust us), the Crispy Fish Tacos, any of the Poutine dishes and Seafood Towers and the Lobster Rolls.
