Two at Symphony: The Dubai Mall’s chicest cafe and eatery?

Malls aren’t known for being foodie hubs, but The Dubai Mall is certainly turning that rule on its head. Meet its latest resident – Two at Symphony, and join The Huntr as we present our full review…

Two at Symphony might just be The Dubai Mall’s chicest cafe and eatery. This homegrown gem first opened its doors in April 2018 and has fast become a local favourite. At the weekend you will be hard pushed to find a free table, and it’s highly likely that you recognise some of these pictures from your social feeds. So what’s so special about Two that gives it that viral edge? First of all, it’s perhaps its authenticity and the fact that it is a concept founded by two (hence the name) Emirati sisters – Mouza and Salama Alabbar. Mouza is the foodie of the two, literally, and Salama is the fashion entrepreneur behind Symphony – Two at Symphony’s opulent boutique home. Secondly, it’s all about those interiors…

Quite possibly one of the most Pinterest-perfect settings, Two features millennial pink chairs, Terrazzo and marble elements, a gorgeous centre bar for speciality coffee (Seven Fortunes-provided), cakes and pastries, and a cosy, homely vibe throughout.

The menu offers a variety of classic favourites to inspire nostalgia, alongside some more experimental, quirky dishes. The Huntr tried the breakfast dish ‘My Eggs, My Way’ (49AED), which is two eggs prepared eggsactly (sorry, couldn’t help it) as you like them with two sides of your choice (we selected smoked salmon and roasted vine cherry tomatoes with scrambled eggs). We also sampled the Grilled Cheese Tartine (49AED) – an open-style four-cheese sourdough toastie with turkey ham, sriracha and cucumber and mint sauce and Chips Oman. This epic cheat-day-worthy dish is available for breakfast and lunch. Last but by no means least, we ordered the Gahwa French Toast (49AED) – brioche French toast with fresh wild berries and Arabic coffee (gahwa) sauce. The dish is also available on the lunch menu and offers a wonderful Arabic twist on the favourite, decadent French icon.

From the lunch menu, we couldn’t resist ordering the Burrata (63AED), which was every bit as creamy as you would hope and comes with a duo of coloured cherry tomatoes, basil, pesto crumbs and homemade pesto. Divine. And the Pista Lamb Chops (115AED), which is comprised of juicy pistachio-crusted lamb cutlets with a vegetable ratatouille sauce and a crispy polenta cake.

Drinks-wise we sampled the Lavander Magic Lemonade (29AED) and the Latte (26AED). We foolishly didn’t leave room left for dessert. However, the silver lining is we’ve got another reason to return to this Dubai Mall homegrown gem soon…

Insider tip: Two at Symphony offers a variety of cakes for gifts or gatherings via WhatsApp or ordering online here. Two at Symphony opens daily at 10 am and closes every day at 1 am.
