XPark Jr Dubai is a celebration of Mother Nature, an outdoor children’s play area with the sole aim of getting the little ones to fall in love with being outside and playing amongst the earth’s beauty.
The fact that this is 90% outside, in the elements, means that it is a place to visit during Dubai’s cooler months. Because whilst there are some indoor facilities – bathrooms, arts and crafts rooms and a cafe – the main focus is the outdoor area, which features a petting zoo, faux rivers for splashing around in, Wes Anderson-worthy playhouses and den-like nooks and crannies, and a rather large playground with swings, slides, climbing frames and the like.
The park is open to children (and their parents/minders) aged 1-12 years-old. It’s just a stone’s throw from Kite Beach, making this the perfect spot to burn off some steam after a morning or an afternoon spent on the sand. There is a cafe run by Park House – more on that here.
Insider tip: The park is particularly lovely when it’s not too busy, call ahead and ask when the quietest times to visit are. Bring non-slip water shoes for the little ones, sunscreen, hats and swimwear – you won’t be able to keep them out of the rivers or away from the water fountains!
